Chef Mehran

Mehran first learned to cook alongside his mother, where food was part of everyday family life. He later completed a two-year culinary program at Le Cordon Bleu in Boston.

Cooking for friends and family remained at the heart of his work as he moved into professional restaurant kitchens in Newport Beach and Culver City.

Building Baloot

Baloot brings those experiences together in Mehran’s own kitchen: Persian flavors, a chef’s attention to detail, and the pleasure of feeding people.

Whether serving bowls at a pop-up or cooking a private dinner, he approaches each menu with the same care he brings to cooking for family and friends.

The Name Baloot

Baloot means “acorn” in Persian—the fruit of the oak tree. The name is a nod to Mehran’s Persian roots and his connection to cooking over fire.
